The new update 21.10.0.1 (11.10.2021) brings again a lot of innovations.

Among other things, this update brings significant innovations for the connection to cloud solutions and shows what is technically possible with an offline-based software: if the CGM provider allows it, the data can be received automatically and almost in real time.

Important new features of the latest updates:
  • Data transfer from Accu-Chek Guide, Accu-Chek Connect and Accu-Chek Instant: SmartPix2 interface not required anymore
  • File import optimized: easy transfer by double click
  • Comparison CGM/self measurements also available in free version
  • Data transfer from GlucoMen Day CGM
  • Data transfer from Beurer Gl 48
  • Data transfer from Beurer Gl 49
  • Direct data retrieval from diabetes cloudsBild
  • Support of proxies for update checking and SecureSend managementBild
  • GDT connectivity: Notifications more visibleBild
  • SecureSend: Significantly enhanced instructions for sharing with patientsBild
  • Comprehensive installation page with info materialsBild
  • Instructions for connecting to practice managementBild
  • Improved file import from mySugr, CareLink, LibreView and Clarity
  • Numerous other optimizations or improvements in functionality.

Automatic cloud data retrieval: BildThis feature is available only in DIABASS6 PRo
Thanks to the new automatic cloud import, DIABASS can check at regular intervals (individually adjustable) whether new data is available in the cloud. The values are then automatically retrieved in the background and stored into the local patient database.

The first system supported in this way is the Glucomen Day CGM (Menarini).

Here's how to do it:
Go to the Patient settings and open the tab CLOUD connections. There, enter the access code received from the patient under GLUCOLOG WEB.
To switch on automatic data retrieval, activate the "AUTOMATICALLY RECALL" button.

Use the button with the info symbol to print instructions for the patient

You can change the time interval for data retrieval in the general program settings.
To do this, select the SETTINGS button, then SYSTEM/DATA BANK -> SETTINGS. In the TELEMEDICINE tab, you can change the interval for checking for new cloud data.

Manual download of cloud data:
Manual download of cloud data is also conveniently possible, provided access is allowed by the your cloud provider.
The procedure is analogous to the data transfer from a measuring device. The access data to the cloud can be stored in DIABASS, making the log inmuch more convenient.
A short video on Youtube shows how easy it is, using Dexcom Clarity as an example: https://youtu.be/ZJ27CGyKXfc

Here's how to do it:
Open the Patient settings and open the new CLOUD connections tab. Enter the access data there. You can then start the data retrieval via IMPORT - CLOUD SOLUTIONS.

Note: Dexcom has not officialy released yet the data download from Clarity for all patients.
If, despite using correct access data, access is denied or an error message appears, please contact Dexcom to request approval/activation to download your data with DIABASS.
.

Fast import of Cloud_Datenn:
Last but not least: the import of data exports from diabetes clouds (Dexcom Clarity, LibreView, CareLink, Diasend,..) is now even faster:
Simply start the import by double-clicking on the file and then select "DIABASS Import" - the values are then automatically transferred.

Accu-Chek Instant, Accu-Chek Guide and Accu-Chek Connect: SmartPix interface no longer required.
Data transfer from Accu-Chek Instant, Accu-Chek Guide and Accu-Chek Connect now only requires a normal USB cable; the black SmartPix interface is no longer needed. Import is blazingly fast, completing in just 1-2 seconds.
Please note: if the device is not recognized, the cable driver for Accu-Chek has to be installed once.

Comparison CGM/self-measurements
Unlike for blood glucose meters (ISO 15197:2015), there is still no standard for CGM that specifies measurement accuracy. With certain CGM systems, there currently seem to be quite massive deviations compared to the blood measurement: the value determined by the sensor is then often in the normal range, while the blood measurement actually proves a - sometimes even very pronounced - hyperglycemia.

Patients who do not take comparative blood measurements then mistakenly believe themselves to be in the target range and omit the necessary insulin administration. This explains some considerable deviations of the laboratory-determined HbA1c value from the result expected according to the calculations of the CGM systems. In the long term, this could increasingly lead to late damage.

In many cases, the measurement discrepancies are regarded as batch-related individual cases. Since a systematic survey has rarely been conducted so far, the actual dimension of the problem or the impact on patient safety is probably unknown.

DIABASS can support documentation in this regard: the function "Comparison CGM/SMBG" (formerly: CGM training or sensor quality) compares the sensor values with the temporally corresponding bloody measurements so that the quality of the glucose sensor or the batch can be better assessed. At the same time, the comparison also allows conclusions to be drawn about the patient-specific time difference between CGM and SMBG results.

Bild
Self-measurements (SMBG) and corresponding sensor measurements (CGM) are displayed in an error grid.
A projection shows the likely glucose progression when the deviations are factored out, i.e., when the CGM values are calibrated to the SMBG measurements

Bild
Self-measurements (SMBG) and sensor measurements corresponding at the respective interval (CGM) are evidenced in a list of values.
If no CGM value was available at the exact time interval, an interpolated value is used, which is determined from the closest CGM values in time.

The documentation generated by DIABASS can also help to claim poor quality sensors.

How to use the function.
To add the Comparison CGM/SMBG, click on the green PLUS sign.
A selection window will then appear, select "COMPARE CGM/SMBG" and confirm with OK.
Perform some self-measurements for a few days and read in the blood glucose meter or record the values manually in the diary.
Transfer the data from the CGM sensor. The comparison will then be created automatically.
